Enhanced Connected Planning

Anaplan is a powerful, connected planning platform that supports all the core requirements for organizations to create plans across all functional areas. To enhance the connected planning experience, Anaplan needs to be connected to an array of technologies that both provide and consume data to and from Anaplan. In this post, we will explore various ways to use OneCloud to enhance the connected planning journey with practical examples that will resonate with most Anaplan users.

Automate the load of data from source systems

Loading data from source systems is a critical path when building a planning system. This source data is used to build model structures and load the model with actual data. Building in automated data loads should be a part of any planning project and OneCloud makes it easy with its out-of-the-box connectivity to source data system including Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, relational and text files. Additionally, OneCloud can also be used to securely enable end-users to perform ad-hoc loads. Learn more by seeing OneCloud in action with Salesforce and relational databases:

Make data “Anaplan Ready”

A popular way to load raw data into Anaplan is with unique row IDs. What happens if the data doesn’t have a unique row ID? As a part of OneCloud’s Lightweight ETL, there is a command that can do this job for you. OneCloud also has other functions that perform most of the transformations required for tabular data such as row and column filtering, find & replace, joining, splitting & inserting columns and mapping headers. Share Anaplan data with other systems

Planning applications can be classified as “data generating applications” since end-users input data to build a plan and business rules calculate results. As we have seen, Anaplan receives data from sources such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday and relational technologies that provide base data that an end-user can combine with their inputs. Now we need to close the loop and provide the ability to push enriched Anaplan data back to another target such as a relational database. Watch this video to see OneCloud bring everything together:

Enhance Anaplan File Management

As a final note, connected planning also could be expanded to include an improved way to manage Anaplan Import Data Sources. Anaplan Import Data Sources are the landing zones for any inbound data to be staged before it is imported into a target Anaplan List or Module. Essentially they are templates of the corresponding data source that store import configuration properties like file format, columns, delimiter, etc. As companies expand their connected planning journey, the management of Anaplan Import Data sources becomes critical. Moreover, with Anaplan’s native application lifecycle management (ALM), all these templates need to be replicated between test and production. Now with OneCloud you can automate this process as well as safely store these important objects to targets like Google Drive. Want to see this in action? Watch:
